What are you going to learn?
Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with gold. According to zen Buddhism, cracks and breaks should not be hidden but celebrated with gold, as they are part of the object’s history and represent an opportunity for growth.
During this introductory kintsugi course, after a brief introduction to the history and philosophy of this ancient art, you will restore two ceramic bowls with two different modern kintsugi techniques. We will start with the simpler gold relief technique and then move on to the more complex gold flush technique, retracing all the steps of the traditional kintsugi but using modern materials that will allow us to complete our restorations in a few hours.

*Please note that traditional kintsugi requieres years of practice and the materials take at least 4 weeks to get dry. As we are going to use modern materials, the restored ceramics won’t be safe for food.

      WABI-SABI CERAMICS FOR EVERYDAY LIFE

Since simple and everyday life objects are our source of inspiration, when we are not creating large installations or sculptures, we keep ourselves training by creating small ceramic objects for our home and on very special occasions we open for one day the doors of our studio to sell them.
